Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG’s October Banlist Takes Effect With 42 Card Changes

Konami revealed the Advanced Format changes in stages during its YCS Houston livestream, finishing with three more cards headed to Forbidden.

October List at a Glance

  • What happened: Konami’s new Advanced Format Forbidden & Limited List took effect after the company said it would add 34 cards to Forbidden and eight to Limited.
  • Key date: October 19, 2026, when the new list took effect. The official card database shows the list as updated that day.
  • Why it matters: The official database marks 42 cards with updated statuses, so many Advanced Format decks need a fresh check against the list before play.

What Konami Changed

Konami announced the update ahead of YCS Houston and revealed the changes in stages during the event’s livestream. The final batch put Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Crossout Designator and Triple Tactics Talent on the Forbidden list. It also moved Branded in High Spirits to Limited and Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to Semi-Limited. Players watching for upcoming product can also see Magnificent Maestros Box, which is listed for presale with an estimated ship date of November 13, 2026.

The October list follows a separate September update, which FoilWire covered in our report on the September banlist that banned Kewl Tune Rotary and Dimension Shifter.

Rebuilding After the List

Spanish outlet MeriStation reported on October 19 that the list removed commonly used cards from legal play, including Called by the Grave, Crossout Designator and Triple Tactics Talent. Players who need new material while reworking a deck can look at Beyond the Brave Booster Box [1st Edition], a current core set. None of the cards named in Konami’s final update come from it, so it is a general option, not a direct replacement.

A Big Reset in One List

The count is what stands out. Thirty-four cards moving to Forbidden at once is a large reshuffle, and the final batch included cards that MeriStation described as widely played. Players should check the official list before their next event.
