KONAMI Overhauls Yu-Gi-Oh! Genesys With More Than 300 Point Changes

KONAMI’s first anniversary update reprices power cards, searchers, Graveyard effects and negates while removing points from several older themes.

The Genesys Overhaul

  • What changed: KONAMI released more than 300 Genesys point changes, combining broad category rebalancing with adjustments based on recent tournament data.
  • Key date: The first anniversary point update was published October 5, 2026, beginning the format’s second full year with a substantially different pricing structure.
  • Why it matters: Cards including Baronne de Fleur, Naturia Beast and Skull Meister now carry different costs, while several older themes had their remaining point values removed entirely.

More Than 300 Point Changes

The numbers move in both directions. Baronne de Fleur dropped from 80 points to 50, while Naturia Beast climbed from 50 to 100. Skull Meister moved from zero to one point, Rescue-ACE Air Lifter fell from three to zero, and Swap Frog dropped from 33 to zero. KONAMI also removed the remaining point costs from older themes including ABC, True Draco, Ritual Beast, Star Seraphs, Subterror, Dragonmaid and the Dragon Rulers.

“the threshold for what the general public is willing to spend to use a single power card is about 40 points.”

KONAMI Digital Entertainment, Inc., Genesys BIG 1st Anniversary Update

KONAMI says the update goes beyond individual deck performance. The company reevaluated categories of search effects, loosened some Graveyard related costs and restructured the base values assigned to negates. FoilWire’s September 29 Genesys snapshot previewed this larger anniversary adjustment after KONAMI published its latest tournament data.

That earlier update also noted that Beyond the Brave already had its initial Genesys values. The Beyond the Brave Booster Box [1st Edition] belongs to a release that was already priced into Genesys before this much broader anniversary pass.

Deckbuilding Math Changes Fast

Genesys assigns points to selected cards and counts them across the Main Deck, Extra Deck and Side Deck, with 100 points used as the standard cap and at major events such as YCS Houston. That makes some of these changes immediately practical. A card dropping from 80 points to 50 can create room for other choices, while Naturia Beast reaching 100 can consume an entire standard point budget by itself.

Players rebuilding physical lists will have to recalculate before settling on the finished deck, alongside ordinary tournament prep such as resleeving a revised list with Dragon Shield Matte Sleeves Jet 100 Pack. KONAMI says the next planned points release will be the initial update for Magnificent Maestros.

A Real Anniversary Reset

The scale is what stands out here. KONAMI did not simply raise a few successful decks and lower a few struggling ones. It used the anniversary to reconsider how entire types of effects should be priced, while still applying tournament data where appropriate. That gives Genesys players a meaningfully different deckbuilding puzzle without pretending every one of the 300 plus changes came from the same reason.
