Market Brief
- Asset: 2002 Pokémon Legendary Collection #3 Charizard Reverse Holo, English, PSA Gem Mint 10.
- Observed market: Heritage recorded a $575,000 completed auction result on September 19, 2026.
- What changed: The same card and grade sold for $120,000 at Fanatics Collect three months earlier, a 379.2% increase.
- Possible drivers: Anniversary attention and wider exposure to graded cards provide context, but no source establishes what drove the winning bid.

Market Snapshot
This comparison follows the English 2002 Legendary Collection #3 Charizard reverse holo graded PSA 10. Fanatics Collect recorded a $120,000 auction result on June 15, 2026, while Heritage recorded $575,000 on September 19. Both are published auction results that include buyer’s premium.
They are different physical copies sold through different auction houses, so the 379.2% increase describes movement between two comparable public sales, not an index or guaranteed market value. The Heritage event also produced several other six figure PSA 10 Pokémon results, which makes the wider auction activity important context.
Data checked: October 5, 2026, around 3:45 p.m. CT. Auction results are historical completed sales. The active asking price reflects the marketplace listing visible when checked.
| Comparison period | June 15, 2026 at Fanatics Collect to September 19, 2026 at Heritage. Same English reverse holo card and PSA 10 grade. |
| Observed price movement | $120,000 to $575,000 in published auction results including buyer’s premium, an increase of 379.2%. |
| Sales activity | The exact card recorded the $120,000 and $575,000 results. Heritage’s September auction also recorded PSA 10 Gold Star Charizard at $475,000, Gold Star Mewtwo at $262,500, and Legendary Collection Psyduck at $200,000. |
| Active availability | One exact PSA 10 reverse holo copy was listed on eBay at $750,000 or Best Offer. A reliable total comparable listing count was not verified because search results mix printings and variants. |

What We’re Watching
The main question is whether $575,000 becomes a repeatable level for this exact Charizard or remains an exceptional result from an unusually strong auction. Another comparable PSA 10 sale would tell us far more than a new round of ambitious asking prices.
- Supply: Fresh listings of exact PSA 10 reverse holo copies matter more than broad Charizard search totals. A sustained increase in comparable listings would show whether more owners are testing the market after the September result.
- Demand: Repeated completed sales near the September result would strengthen the case that buyer expectations have changed. High asking prices by themselves cannot do that.
- Catalysts: GameStop launched digital Power Packs with PSA graded cards on April 15. Coinbase then teased phone based packs backed by physical cards on September 28. Coinbase’s announcement came after the Heritage sale, so it cannot explain that result, but these platforms could add more mainstream visibility to graded cards.
- Risk factors: Exact PSA 10 sales remain infrequent, and different copies can perform differently even within the same grade. The $575,000 result also came during Heritage’s largest Trading Card Games auction to date, so the event itself may not represent an ordinary selling environment.
FoilWire Market Read
The $575,000 Legendary Collection reverse holo Charizard result matters because it has a real comparable behind it. Fanatics Collect sold the same card and grade for $120,000 only three months earlier, so this is not a comparison between a graded sale, a price estimate, and a seller’s wish. Even so, one leap this large does not establish a new normal.
The strongest supporting evidence comes from the rest of Heritage’s September auction, where other PSA 10 vintage cards also reached extraordinary prices. That shows the Charizard was part of a much broader high end auction event. There is also a wider cultural layer developing around graded cards. GameStop has already turned PSA slabs into digital pack pulls, and Coinbase has teased a similar phone based experience backed by physical cards.
That setup could put graded collectibles in front of more people and add to the kind of FOMO that already surrounds headline Pokémon sales, but there is no evidence that either company caused these bids. Coinbase’s teaser actually arrived nine days after the Heritage result.

It is also important not to blur this rarefied market with the ordinary Base Set market represented by Base Set Charizard, Base Set Blastoise, and Base Set Venusaur. They share the same powerful nostalgia, but not the same market. For now, the evidence supports a clear conclusion: elite PSA 10 vintage Pokémon had an extraordinary September auction, while repeat sales are still needed before $575,000 can be treated as a stable level for Legendary Collection Charizard.

Market Note
Market data represents a snapshot of the sources reviewed for this article and may not reflect every private sale, marketplace, geographic region, condition, grade, fee, shipping cost, tax, or transaction occurring in the broader collectible market. Asking prices are not completed sales, individual transactions may be outliers, and limited sales volume can make collectible pricing especially difficult to interpret.
