Deluxe Pack: Mega makes Pokémon ex easier to pull, but its guarantee says much less about the difficulty of finding specific parallel foils and alternate artwork.
What You Need to Know
- What happened: Pokémon TCG Pocket launched Deluxe Pack: Mega on September 29, 2026, with four-card packs guaranteed to contain at least one Pokémon ex.
- Availability: The pack launched at 6:00 p.m. PDT on September 29. An App Store feature lists availability through 9:59 a.m. JST on October 29, which corresponds to 5:59 p.m. PDT on October 28.
- Why it matters: The guaranteed Pokémon ex gives players another route to cards from earlier B Series expansions, but it does not make every parallel foil or alternate artwork equally easy to collect.
What the Guarantee Actually Covers
Deluxe Pack: Mega pulls heavily from earlier B Series releases, covering cards introduced from Mega Rising through Ruler of the Skies. The Pokémon Company specifically confirmed that every four-diamond card from that range returns, while each four-card pack includes at least one Pokémon ex. Parallel foils and cards with new artwork sit alongside those reissues, which means the guaranteed ex is a floor for the pack rather than a promise about any particular treatment.

This pack is a great way for newer players to catch up.

The distinction is familiar even outside Pocket. Mega Evolution is also a major theme in the physical Pokémon TCG, where products such as Mega Charizard X ex 125/094 and the Phantasmal Flames Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box carry that theme in a completely separate card pool. They are physical Pokémon TCG products, not items or cards from Pokémon TCG Pocket.
Completion Is a Different Problem
The first week has already shown why the guarantee can mean different things to different players. One Reddit discussion criticized the size of the card pool and the difficulty of pulling consistent parallel foils, while other participants argued that the reprints are especially useful for newer accounts trying to fill gaps.
Those are individual reactions rather than proof of a wider backlash, but the pack structure explains the split. Published offering rates treat parallel foils as separate outcomes from the guaranteed four-diamond-or-higher card, so pulling an ex every time does not translate into quick completion of specific foil variants.

The Guarantee Needs Context
Deluxe Pack: Mega looks generous when judged by its Pokémon ex floor, and for players missing earlier B Series cards, that matters. Completionists are playing a different game. A guaranteed category of card is not the same thing as easy access to a particular foil or artwork, and keeping those two ideas separate makes the pack much easier to understand.
