Banlist Summary
- What happened: Konami’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Forbidden & Limited List update forbids Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi and Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon in Advanced Format.
- Key date: The list took effect October 19, 2026.
- Why it matters: Both cards are now banned from Advanced Format decks, so duelists running either one have to rebuild around the gap.
What the List Changes
Konami’s official list puts both cards at Forbidden, which means they can’t be played in Advanced Format. Collectors who follow the Mitsurugi archetype can look at Mitsurugi Mirror, a card whose text names Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi. The r/yugioh thread for the final list reveal has 1,735 upvotes, with duelists working through what the changes mean for their decks.
The next update after this will be in a few months.
Konami
Advanced Format is also the format of the YCS Houston main event won by a Dark Magician deck, which we covered in our report on the Dark Magician YCS Houston win.
Mitsurugi Cards Beyond the Banned One
Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi is one of several Mitsurugi cards, and Mitsurugi Great Purification is another from that same deck set. The list’s Forbidden status applies to the named cards only, so players can still look at the rest of the archetype.

A Hard Stop for Two Cards
Forbidden is the strictest status on the list, so these two cards aren’t getting a trimmed-down role. Anyone building an Advanced Format deck starts from a clean slate on both.
