Pocket’s Planned Changes

  • What happened: The Pokémon TCG Pocket Operations Team outlined a slower booster-pack schedule, Community Decks, and rental decks for the game’s new series.
  • Key date: The new series begins at the end of October 2026, and the Dual Fusion expansion is scheduled to launch October 28, 2026, at 6 p.m. PDT.
  • Why it matters: Players would get more time between pack releases and new ways to try decks without owning every card.

What the Producer Letter Says

The team shared the plans in its October 2026 producer letter. Booster packs are moving from a release about every four weeks to about every six. Community Decks would let players browse decks made by others, including popular decks and friends’ decks, and copy them using the cards they own. Dual Fusion, the expansion covered in our look at Dual Fusion’s dual-type cards, is scheduled to launch October 28, 2026.

In the new series, we will be changing the booster pack release cycle from the approximately four-week cycle to a cycle of roughly six weeks

Rental decks are planned to be available when new booster packs release. Players can use them an unlimited number of times, including in versus battles. Pocket is a digital game, but fans who also collect the paper TCG can look at 151 Booster Bundle, a booster bundle from the set built around the original 151 Pokémon.

Trying Decks Without the Cards

Community Decks and rental decks cover different needs. Copying a Community Deck relies on cards a player already owns, while a rental deck lets them try versus battles without building a list first. Anyone who likes Pokémon on cardboard as well can check out 30th Celebration Booster Bundle, a booster bundle from the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration.

The Pack Schedule Matters Most

Community Decks and rental decks are features players can pick up or skip. The pack schedule touches everyone, because it sets how long each release stays the newest one.
