A look at four regular Scarlet and Violet Elite Trainer Boxes shows how entry price, age, and supply can matter just as much as set popularity.
Market Brief
- Asset: Regular English Elite Trainer Boxes from Scarlet and Violet Base Set, Paldea Evolved, Surging Sparks, and Prismatic Evolutions. These are the standard retail products, not the more expensive Pokémon Center versions.
- Observed market: PriceCharting showed estimated ungraded values of $217.88 for Paldea Evolved, $122.73 for Surging Sparks, $145.00 for Prismatic Evolutions, and $142.25 for the Scarlet and Violet Base Set Elite Trainer Box, Miraidon version, when the data was reviewed.
- What changed: The older boxes in this sample have produced much larger moves from their early chart levels. The Scarlet and Violet Base Set ETB was recorded at $32.13 in August 2023 and now sits above $140. Paldea Evolved spent much of its early history around the $30 range before climbing above $200. Prismatic Evolutions entered the market at a much higher level and has appreciated more modestly so far.
- Possible drivers: Age, starting price, available supply, product availability, and time for sealed inventory to move into collections may all be contributing. Prismatic Evolutions also received a broad product rollout during 2025, giving collectors numerous ways to access the expansion beyond its regular Elite Trainer Box.

Market Snapshot
Prismatic Evolutions may be the most immediately recognizable powerhouse of these four sets, but its regular Elite Trainer Box has not produced the largest price move. That distinction belongs to the older products.
The Scarlet and Violet Base Set Elite Trainer Box, Miraidon version, provides one of the clearest examples. PriceCharting recorded it at $32.13 in August 2023. The current estimate of $142.25 is more than four times that level. Its climb was not especially dramatic at first either. The chart remained fairly quiet through much of 2023 and 2024 before accelerating during 2025 and 2026.
Paldea Evolved is even more striking. Its chart spent its early life near the lower end of the modern Elite Trainer Box market, remained relatively subdued through 2024, and then began moving considerably faster. By September 2026, PriceCharting placed the regular box at $217.88, the highest current value of the four products examined here.
Surging Sparks followed a different path. Its regular Elite Trainer Box began around the $60 area, climbed rapidly, cooled during the second half of 2025, then recovered during 2026. At $122.73 today, it remains below Prismatic Evolutions in absolute price, but its move from its earlier market levels has been considerably larger.
Then there is Prismatic Evolutions. Its chart began at roughly $100, reached $97 in August 2025, climbed toward roughly $175 during early 2026, and has since settled around $145. That is still an impressive price for a regular modern Elite Trainer Box. The interesting part is that Prismatic started from a much higher base. It did not get the long period near $30, $40, or $60 that helped magnify the percentage moves seen elsewhere.

What We’re Watching
This comparison is a useful reminder that set popularity and sealed product performance are not always the same thing. A beloved expansion can enter the market with enormous demand already reflected in its price. An older box that spent years sitting quietly at a much lower level may have considerably more room between its starting point and its eventual market price.
- Supply: Older Scarlet and Violet products have had more time for retail inventory to disappear and unopened boxes to migrate into private collections. Prismatic Evolutions is newer, and the expansion received numerous product releases throughout 2025. How much regular Elite Trainer Box supply remains available will be important to watch.
- Demand: The PriceCharting data currently shows approximately one recorded sale per day for Paldea Evolved, Surging Sparks, and the Scarlet and Violet Base Set ETB, compared with approximately three sales per week for Prismatic Evolutions. That does not measure total demand across the entire market, but it provides another useful data point.
- Catalysts: Additional restocks, renewed attention on Scarlet and Violet era sets, changing prices for major chase cards, and future availability of sealed product could all affect these boxes. Prismatic Evolutions in particular remains young enough that its longer term pattern is still developing.
- Risk factors: Modern sealed supply can change quickly. Restocks, additional distribution, changing collector preferences, transaction fees, product condition, and relatively small sales samples can all make short term pricing difficult to interpret.

This is where the comparison gets fun.
Prismatic Evolutions can be the star of the era without being the star of this particular chart. Those are two different questions.
Collectors knew Prismatic was special almost immediately. Eevee. The Evolutions. Special illustration rares. A huge amount of attention. None of this was exactly hiding.
And that matters because the market knew it too.
Prismatic Evolutions did not spend years quietly sitting around $35 while everyone ignored it. Its regular Elite Trainer Box entered the secondary market around $100. By August 2025, the chart showed $97. By early 2026, it had pushed toward roughly $175 before cooling back toward $145.
That is hardly a disappointing result. It just started halfway up the mountain.
Compare that with the Scarlet and Violet Base Set ETB. In August 2023, PriceCharting recorded the regular box at $32.13. Today it is around $142. Paldea Evolved spent a long time in similarly sleepy territory before eventually moving above $200.
The difference is not necessarily that collectors suddenly decided those sets were better than Prismatic Evolutions. They had something Prismatic has not had yet.
Time.
Time for retail supply to thin out. Time for boxes to get opened. Time for sealed copies to disappear into collections. Time for a product that once felt ordinary to become something collectors remember seeing everywhere but suddenly cannot find as easily.
And, perhaps most importantly, they started cheap.
A move from $32 to $140 looks enormous because it is enormous relative to the starting price. A box that begins near $100 needs to reach roughly $400 before producing a similar multiple. That is simply a much higher hill to climb.
This is why judging sealed products entirely by the strength of the underlying set can be misleading. Popularity matters. Chase cards matter. Characters matter. But starting price, supply, and age matter too.
So far, Prismatic Evolutions has been the obvious collector darling but not the strongest relative price performer in this group. Paldea Evolved, Scarlet and Violet Base Set, and even Surging Sparks had lower starting points working in their favor.
Could that change as Prismatic gets older and more of its original supply disappears? Absolutely. Could additional availability keep the box comparatively restrained for longer? That is possible too.
That is what makes the next few years interesting.
Prismatic Evolutions may ultimately have a very different story to tell. For now, though, the Scarlet and Violet era offers a neat little lesson.
The most popular set does not automatically produce the biggest move.
Market Note
Market data represents a snapshot of the sources reviewed for this article and may not reflect every private sale, marketplace, geographic region, condition, grade, fee, shipping cost, tax, or transaction occurring in the broader collectible market. Asking prices are not completed sales, individual transactions may be outliers, and limited sales volume can make collectible pricing especially difficult to interpret.
